Finally Fungi!!

Ooh... I thought I would have a go at posting on our little blog seeing as Kate has gone to the trouble of setting it up. I am very excited that my mushrooms have finally sprouted. I bought a box of mushroom compost from Enfield Produce 3 weeks ago. It said it would take 2 weeks for them to sprout, they lied it took 3. The instructions also say just to water with a fine mist every second day but it didn't seem like the soil got wet enough so I have been watering it with a rainy watering can (FYI - this is the technical name for a watering can that makes the water come out just like rain). This was just a bit of practice until my book Sepp Holzer's Permaculture (with mushroom cultivating information) comes in the mail. I fear it will have quite a bit of mileage on it by the time it reaches me as I keep getting updates on its location - it appears this book is now more well travelled than I am. Damn!

Anyways, I have 3 of these babies at the moment... none of them much bigger than my thumbnail!

See you all soon

Hey classmates,

Well our last class was a bittersweet affair. Such a great experience and such a shame to say goodbye... so let's not. As promised I've started this blog (the template was chosen with Elaine's affection for dandelions in mind:) I really enjoyed getting to know you all and would love to see what everyone does with their new permaculture skills. From Devin's Indo adventure to Joao's plans for his Brazilian farm, Jess' new house with its north(ish) facing garden and Kelly's social enterprise, I am hoping that we can not only keep in touch but continue to inspire each other. So if you do it, think about it, or need help with it, put it here, for your "Permie Friends" to see.
Fondest regards,
Kate xxx
